Here's where compassion meets truth meets freedom. Ellen DeGeneres has opened up about how she was sexually abused by her stepfather as a child and then her experience was rejected by her mother who stayed with the man many more years. Abuse is one of (not the only doorway), but one of the doorways that opens children up to a spirit of perversion, sexual brokenness, self harm, homosexuality, etc. This is where compassion enters in. She did not choose to be abused and to have this spirit enter into her life. She did not choose to have her pain ignored or to grow up in a household feeling shame, fear, or with unbelieving parents who were unaware of the spiritual battle we face daily. This story is common, sad, and it effects people in so many many ways. Here is where truth enters in.

There is one alone who can break the power of this stronghold, set her free, close that door to the enemy, and show her the Way to life everlasting. There is one who binds up wounds, heals the broken hearted, and restores us to the newness of life. Yahweh the God of Israel through the atonement of the Messiah Yeshua, whose name literally means salvation. The spirit that entered into her life through the terrible thing done to her has deceived her into feelings that have led her into a lifestyle that is sinful. The acts associated with that lifestyle are an abomination to a Holy God in accordance with His breathed out Word.

So, here is the truth, we ALL fall short of the Glory of a Holy and Almighty God, and no sin can exist in His perfect presence. We are all sinners in need of God's mercy and grace. We are all bound by the stronghold of our sin and the sin of others. God cloaked Himself in flesh in the person of Yeshua (Jesus), He lived a sinless life, was beaten, crucified, and absorbed the full cup of the Father's wrath on Himself. He died and on the 3rd day He rose again, defeating the power of death and breaking the curse of sin for all those who would receive and accept this atonement as complete and finished; He casts our sins as far as the east is from the west. When we truly believe that He is Messiah and Lord of all things who took all that we deserved upon Himself and that He is the only way to everlasting life and right standing with a Holy and Just God, and we confess that truth with our whole being; we can be saved.

So, here is where freedom comes in... When we receive, believe, and confess this truth and turn from unbelief to belief (repentance), God fills us with the Holy Spirit. He gives us HIS spirit! This is a gift beyond comprehension. He adopts us as His children, gives us a new name, new identity, and a new inheritance. God makes us a new creation.... He says ALL of the old has passed away and the new has come. He says, It is no longer we who live but He who lives in us! This is not religion, this is a resurrection! He then begins to set us free from the things that bind us. He shows us through His word how to renew our minds, battle spiritual darkness, walk as a new creation, live in victory over temptations, and enter into His paths of righteousness by His still waters. We then can run to His throne of grace when we stumble or struggle and cry, Abba, Father!

This is where the compassion for why meets the truth of who meets the freedom that's possible.
